We are constantly looking for new spots near our holiday destinations. Social networks certainly help with this, them being particularly useful for discovering new places. When we arrive at our holiday destination, we are very active in visiting all of the magical locations, marking where we are, taking fascinating photos and thus inspiring new travelers to come as well. So, not only do we like to feel good on vacation, but we also want our friends and followers to see it, and what better way to show them that than with photos? As much as we like to post them in the moment, we also like to revisit them after the vacation and go back to the moment when the photos were captured.

The Adriatic coast is truly diverse and special; it isn't difficult to find an eye-catching corner, and today we bring you the list with the best photo spots (and their exact locations) that will instantly take you back to the moment of your vacation. Some of these are located on Korčula, Hvar, Brač, Vis, in Split, Rovinj, Dubrovnik, Šibenik...

1. ROVINJ

Beautiful Istria is an increasingly popular destination for vacations, and Rovinj is a must-see place when you're in Istria. Rovinj is located on the west coast of Istria, the largest Croatian peninsula, an hour's drive from Trieste, and two and a half hours' drive from Zagreb or six hours' drive from Munich. The local population lives mostly from tourism, followed by fishing, agriculture, growing grapes and making wine. They are proud of their rich natural and cultural sights such as the old town, the luxurious forest park Zlatni rt (Golden cape), protected islands and coasts. Croats like to call it the pearl of Istria, but we think that everyone would agree that Rovinj is one of the pearls of the whole of Croatia. The charming old town full of colorful buildings, wooden "shacks" and small local shops of Istrian delicacies make the perfect background for "insta-worthy" photos. One of the most popular locations turned out to be a narrow, short street by the sea, and the perfect assistants are are two chairs and a coffee table that belong to the atelier Charm. This is a very popular location for taking photos, so we immediately warn you that there is a possibility of waiting in line to pose on the popular chair.

2. HVAR

The island of Hvar belongs to the Central Dalmatian archipelago of islands and is the longest and sunniest Croatian island. Of the many islands of the Adriatic coast (over 2000), Hvar has the most hours of sunshine: 2718 (the average according to data from 2020). When we mention lavender fields, the first thing that comes to mind is probably the beautiful Provence. You don't need to buy a plane ticket to Provence to enjoy the smell of lavender and endless purple fields; just head to Hvar. Lavender is a plant used in skin and beauty products, but it also has a therapeutic and aroma therapeutic effect. It reduces headaches, insomnia and heals wounds. The island of Hvar is famous for its lavender fields and is still an important part of the island's agricultural production, although the devastating fires of 1995 and the economy caused a reduction in investment. Even today, rugged terrain, organic production and manual lavender harvesting really distinguish Hvar lavender from the rest. Lavender bloom time is June, so if you want to have memories from the purple fields of lavender, definitely take that into consideration.

3. DUBROVNIK

The city of Dubrovnik has had record numbers of visits in the last few years. After the main role in one of the most popular series in the world, Game of Thrones, the potential of beautiful Dubrovnik and its surroundings is recognized. It's currently one of the most popular summer locations as well as one of the most important historical and tourist centers in Croatia. The prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik from the earliest times was based on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages, as the Republic of Ragusa, it was the only city-state on the eastern coast of the Adriatic that competed with the Republic of Venice. Dubrovnik was one of the centers of the development of the Croatian language and literature, and many important Croatian poets, dramatists, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars thrived there. The most recognizable symbols of the city of Dubrovnik are Stradun which is the long main street in Dubrovnik's old town, and the city walls which surround the entire old town. The main entrance to the walls is located at the western end of Stradun (Vrata od Pile / Pile Doors), and after you climb the first steps, you will easily recognize the place on the left where you can simultaneously show both Stradun and the Walls in the photo.

4. LOKRUM

If you are already in Dubrovnik, we have another suggestion for a unique experience and for a photo which will decorate your Instagram feed. In the City Port of Dubrovnik you will find a small boat that sails to Lokrum on a daily basis. Lokrum is an island only 600 m from Dubrovnik's old city center. Thanks to its untouched nature, beautiful coast, botanical garden and historical remains, Lokrum will surely leave you breathless. This island is uninhabited and is under the protection of UNESCO. Lokrum's beaches are very attractive and stretch along the entire island, so here you will come across numerous coves where you can enjoy the turquoise blue sea. The coast of the southern part of the island is designated as a nudist beach. The seabed offers a lot of interesting things worth exploring. You can also look for diving tours through which you can explore the sea surrounding ​​Lokrum. The title of the most popular location on the island goes to a small salt lake called the Dead Sea. In fact, it is a cave whose ceiling collapsed in the past geological times, and the lake is connected to the outside sea by a channel. It offers a stunning view of the open sea framed by the cave itself and at the same time is the ideal spot to take the perfect holiday photo.


Location: boats to Lokrum depart from the Dubrovnik city port every half hour during the summer months, and the ride takes 10 minutes. The first departure is at 9 AM., and from 10 AM the boats run every half hour. Last ship with island to Dubrovnik departs at 7 PM.

5. KORČULA

The island of Korčula is one of the most beautiful Croatian islands. The name originates from Korkyra, the name given to the island by the founders of the main settlement on it - (Greek) Dorians from the Greek city of Knidos. Since the island of Corfu in Greece is also called by the same name, Strabo in the 1st century BC adds the adjective melaina (black) to the name Korkyra to distinguish it from Korkyra to the south. Not far from the island of Korčula is the islet of Badija. Although the Korčula archipelago includes 19 islets, Badija stood out for the fact that deer live freely on it. Yes, you read that right - deer. These are fallow deer which are descendants of two pairs of deer brought to Badija in 1958, and they arrived by boat from Brijuni. As soon as you get close to the landing spot on the island, you will notice tame deer approaching and eagerly awaiting the treats they are used to from travelers. They will approach you quickly, so you will very easily get a chance to take a unique photo on the Adriatic. Despite being quite relaxed when approaching people, they do not like to be touched and will quickly move away if you try. You can bring them apples, salad or carrots. It should be noted that there are no shops on the island, so provide food and water for yourself.

Location: the easiest way to get to the islet is by a taxi boat from Korčula or Lumbarda, and taxis run every half an hour.

6. BRAČ

Brač is the largest island in Dalmatia and the third largest Croatian island. Vidova gora with its peak Vidovica rises to about 780 meters above sea level along the southern coast of the island of Brač, which makes it the highest Croatian island. From Vidovica, there is a wonderful view of the nearby islands, especially the rugged coast of Hvar, and on clear days you can even see the peaks of the Apennine mountains in Italy. One of the most famous beaches in the world - Zlatni Rat - is particularly attractive. The main approach to Vidova Gora is via an asphalted road from the direction of Nerežišće. For the more daring, there is also a much more attractive, but also more demanding, hiking trail available - the Vela or Rimska (Roman) trail that starts from Bol. The mountain markings in Bol start at the church of Our Lady of Karmela, cross the access road to Bol, lead through the hamlet of Podborje and rugged terrain all the way to the top of the mountain.

Location: Vidova gora can be reached by car almost to the top, by turning from the road that leads from Nerežišće to Bol, and for the brave ones, there is a hiking trail from Bol and it would take you 2 hours to reach the top.

7. ŠIBENIK

The city of Šibenik is one of the oldest Croatian cities on the Adriatic, and it was first mentioned in 1066 in the grant of Petar Krešimir IV., so it is also called Krešimir's town. We believe that everyone recognizes the symbol of the city, the Cathedral of St James (Jakov), which is considered the most significant architectural achievement of the 15th and 16th centuries in Croatia. Due to its exceptional values, in 2000 it was included in UNESCO's list of world cultural heritage. From these few sentences it can already be concluded that there is no better spot in Šibenik than the Cathedral for taking a photo. In addition to taking photos from the side of the stairs leading from the Riva, we have a suggestion for another place that will turn your photo into a postcard. If you climb the stairs near the town hall, you will see a small place with a perfect view of Šibenik's beauty. Albeit, in 2020, in accordance with conservation guidelines, a suitable fence was installed to prevent further devastation of the City Hall roof. Considering the traffic of the location, children and bystanders are protected by this act. However, we definitely think that even with the fence, this location is one of those that you should not miss when you are in Šibenik.

8. SPLIT

The most famous, and the largest city in Dalmatia, the second largest city in Croatia, and the cultural and economic center of Dalmatia. Split is home to the palace of emperor Diocletian, which dates back to the 4th century AD, and has been under UNESCO protection since 1979. The entire old core of Split is so enchanting that it'll be difficult for you not to stop at every step to take pictures of all those corners. With that being said, the most famous place in Split is also the perfect backdrop for your favorite vacation photos: Peristil. Whichever angle you choose to freeze the moment, you won't go wrong. We are particularly fond of the detail of the sphinx, which Diocletian brought directly from Egypt, and we feel that it is overlooked next to the stunning Palace and the tall bell tower. By placing the sphinx in the focus of the photo, you will move away from typical Mediterranean context and you will definitely make the photo more intriguing. You can also take a great photo while sitting on the Peristil stairs and drinking coffee on the red cushions of the local cafe. In the evening, the place turns into a romantic bar where you can often listen to live music and dance in the square. Ideal, right?

9. MAKARSKA (BRELA)

Not far from Makarska, in Brela, is Punta Rata. This beach certainly deserves the title given to it by various portals and magazines, which is that it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia and has been included in the lists of the most beautiful beaches many times. Given that we can find a lot of beaches in Croatia, this title is not easy to earn. Its unique feature is a stone rock that rises from the sea and on which pine trees grow - a rock that has become a symbol of Brela, and which is made for top Instagram photos. The very strength of a tree growing from a stone can be compared to the average Dalmatian's quick wit and strong mentality. Punta Rata is located on a cape covered with a lush, century-old pine forest that provides shade for the hours when the sun is high in the sky, and the turquoise sea provides refreshment on hot summer days.

10.VIS (KOMIŽA)

The lush and heavenly island of Vis is home to one of the world's most beautiful beaches - Stiniva. The island of Vis is the most distant larger island among the Adriatic islands. It is 45 km from the coast, and is connected to Split by ferry and catamaran lines. For a long time it was home to a military base, so it was eluded by tourists and development in tourism. Therefore, we can say that Vis is an island of unspoiled nature, a treat for lovers of Robinson tourism, and as such it did not escape even Hollywood producers. With its beauty, Vis contributes to the atmosphere of the second installment of the cult movie Mamma Mia, in which Vis is potrayed as a Greek island. There are big discussions about which place on Vis is more beautiful, the town of Vis itself or the small town of Komiža. One of the locations that the Instagram feed loves is definitely Komiža with its alleys that overlook directly onto beach and the sea, and we are sure that you will find one alley that is clear, considering that there are several of them, and not just one.
