How to confirm the reservation - what do I have to pay and when?
To confirm a reservation it is required to pay the amount indicated as 'advance payment' during the reservation process – at times it's a full amount, but in most cases, one-third of the amount is paid immediately and the rest is paid directly to the owner, on spot upon arrival.
In case you've made a credit card payment during the reservation process, consider your reservation as confirmed! Your credit card will be charged right after your reservation date was confirmed as available by the Host.
In case you haven't made a payment with your credit card during the reservation process, you can make a payment within 24 hours starting from the time your reservation date was confirmed available. All the information you might need to make the payment will be sent to the e-mail address you provided while booking accommodation through our website.
Once we receive your payment and it's visible on our registered account, a Voucher will be sent to your e-mail address as a reservation confirmation with all the details about the owner included.
How do I know my reservation is confirmed?
After the agency receives your payment, as a confirmation of reservation we will send Voucher with all the important information to your email address.
The Voucher stands as a proof of paid and confirmed reservation - you should print it and give it to the host upon arrival. Don't forget to ask the host to sign the statement on your copy of the Voucher that you have settled the remaining costs!
How can I pay the reservation?
Payment can only be made in Euro:
- You can pay with a credit card (Visa/MasterCard/Maestro) during the reservation process or later by using the link you will get in the mail with paying instructions
- By bank transfer: All the information you need to make the payment will be sent to the email address you provided while making the reservation on our website
How can I get the host's address or contact info?
Right after your payment went through, your reservation is confirmed. We send you a Voucher as soon as possible to your e-mail address. In the Voucher you will find the contact number of the owner and other important info about the accommodation that you've booked.
Do I have to contact the host, and when?
It is preferable to contact the owner upon arrival. In the voucher you will get contact details of the Host, accurate GPS coordinates of the object and the QR Code through which you can download directions to the facility.
You can announce your time of arrival by SMS or call and ask the Host any additional information on accommodation you might consider important.
How can I cancel or change my reservation?
After you start using the booked services, the change of reservation is no longer possible. Change or cancellation of reservation may include a fee.
Does change or cancellation of my reservation include any fees?
In case of a reservation change and depending on the time of the change, we charge a fixed administrative cost.
In case of a cancellation of reservation we also charge a cost as a percentage of the total amount, depending on the time when the cancellation occurred.
Who should I contact if the host can't receive guests on the arrival day?
If the Host is not able to provide accommodation services on the day of your arrival, it is best to contact us to find the same or better category of alternative accommodation. Please note that these situations are extremely rare.
If we are unable to find alternative accommodation at our own expense, the customer will receive a 100% refund. In case the refund happens, the guest has no right to claim compensation for any additional costs associated with the booking.
What if the host cancels the reservation?
The agency is obliged to inform the guests that have confirmed their time of arrival about the change in booking or a booking cancellation immediately upon the occurrence of extraordinary circumstances and to offer an alternative solution (a new accommodation, the alternative term, refunds ...), depending on the moment in which the termination occurred. In that case, of course, there is no cancellation charge for the customer!

YACHT CHARTER
How do I put a crew together?
If your charter does not include a skipper, you should decide ahead of time who will be in charge, making important decisions in disputed and dangerous situations. The person at the steering wheel should, based on experience and expertise, have the full trust and respect of every member of your party.
If there are dissenting opinions among you with regards to your future cruise, we suggest dividing the group in two from the outset, in order to avoid an unsatisfactory holiday.
What is the best season to sail the Adriatic?
If this is your maiden voyage, the summer is certainly the best choice as adverse weather, requiring special sailing skills, is very unlikely. On the other hand, experienced sailors eager for adventure will come into their own in wintertime.
If your wish is to experience the lively atmosphere of Adriatic towns, attend cultural events or visit nightclubs, summer is certainly your best choice. The spring and fall seasons are ideal for sailors wishing to avoid the summer crowds.
If sunny weather is a must for you, July and August are months to plan for; however, you should avoid them if you are on a tight budget.
How do I choose an archipelago and make a navigation plan?
If you are a beginner, choose already tried routes with less windy areas and indented coast where you can find shelter in a marina, small port or cove reachable within 2 hours.
If you set off to the sea for diving and sport fishing adventures, make sure to find out which part of the Adriatic is the best for such activities and meeting your needs. Please take extra attention in attaining all necessary documents and permits, as well informing yourself about areas where fishing or diving is not allowed.
After choosing the archipelago, it is advisable to plan daily routes. We recommend that you follow the basic rule of choosing the most distant destination in a way that it can be reached within one third of the time you have at your disposal. In that way you will have the chance to enjoy the chosen destinations and get back on time. Please bear in mind that penalties for returning the boat after the check-out time are extremely high.
What criteria should I use when choosing a boat?
If you wish for a dynamic holiday, covering many miles and calling in many ports, you should choose a motorboat. If you would rather just drift on the waves and surrender to the bliss of sailing itself, choose a sailboat. Do not be concerned about experience, as the operation of charter sailboats is extremely simple.
The budget is often a factor which narrows choice down considerably; if yours is on the tight side, steer clear of motorboats, which are well-known fuel guzzlers.
If you wish to plan for your cruise along the Adriatic in July or August, we heartily recommend that you start looking for your vessel of choice as early as possible, and make your booking in April at the latest. The reason for this is intense demand; the best boats often quickly become unavailable.
As for quality, we suggest that, once you have settled on the type of boat and a particular brand, you go for the newer boats, especially if this is your first cruise. A newer vessel is a guarantee of quality and a carefree holiday.
What does the charter contract contain?
* the usual information on the contract's two sides: the charter company and the person renting the vessel. If the latter will not be the skipper also, then the skipper must be listed seperately, together with all the relevant permits which entitle this person to be in this role
* the contract's subject: the vessel with all of its defining characteristics
* the exact price of the vessel's rental, the deposit amount, with clearly listed terms and conditions of payment. All additional items must also be listed, such as an outboard motor, a dinghy, a spinnaker sail... each with their separate price.
* the period of rental, with the exact dates and times by which the vessel can be signed for in its base port
* the name and location of the base port, or, in the case of a one-way charter, the port in which the vessel can be signed off.
* the exact number of people which will be present on board at any time.
The general form of the charter contract can be found on our website. As the act of booking is done online, there is no signing of an actual contract. It is rather considered that, by making the payment, the client confirms to have understood the terms and conditions of the charter. The terms and conditions are fully binding for both parties - the client and the agency.
Immediately upon receiving the payment confirmation, the agency sends a voucher to the client. The voucher contains all the important elements of the charter contract, and is to be shown to the authorities when the vessel is signed for.

Is paying a deposit required when taking over a boat?
Note that the charter agency can only charge you for the deposited amount, regardless of the actual amount of damage. The remainder is charged to an insurance company.
Various methods are acceptable for the deposit payment: cash, credit cards, travellers or euro checks, or bank transfers. However, in practice few charter agencies will accept all of these. It would not be unheard-of for an acceptable method of payment to be one of the factors which determine the choice of charter agency.
The deposit is of course payable only after you personally inspect the boat and make certain its condition and equipment are in full agreement with its Internet presentation, or with the offer which the agency official has made. The deposit will be returned to you in full once the vessel is returned with no damages or loss of equipment.
What should I bear in mind when taking over a boat?
The vessel's exterior
* Check for visible damage such as scratches or dents to the hull, sides and deck
* Check if the railing or any of the supporting columns are bent or broken
* Check the lateral and rear fenders
* Check the cables for tautness
* Check the anchor and chain lock, and make sure the other end is in the anchor container. Record the length of the anchor chain, test the anchor winch and find out if there is a spare anchor
* If you are renting a dinghy, check that as well, paying special attention to the functionality of the outboard engine and oars
Deck equipment
* Test the winches, by winding each one manually. The winches must turn smoothly. Record the number of winch handles you have been given!
* Test the mast pulleys, side sliders for the genua and the main sail
* Check the stoppers
* Stand by the mast and visually inspect its straightness, and whether the cross-sections are perpendicular to it
* Check if the shrouds are too loose
* Find out the mast height from sea level for the purpose of passing under bridges
* Raise the sails and check them for any damage
* Check the halyard and winding ropes. Neither of them should have any visible damage
* Test the steering wheel in both directions for idleness
Sternal storage
* Count the mooring ropes; make sure you have plenty
* Count the spare fenders
* Check the grapple
* Make sure you have a bucket for scooping up water
* Check for boat cleaning equipment
* Make sure there is a water hose and a union flat joint
* Remember to check for a power cable, in case the vessel's batteries can be recharged
* Check the sewage pumps
Engine and batteries
* You should certainly familiarize yourself with the engine manual and ask for any needed clarifications. Regardless of the manual, the following should be done:
* Check to see the ignition works well at the first attempt
* Check if the thrust runs smoothly, without resistance
* Make a visual inspection of the engine. Inform yourself about the breather operation, replacing the cooling impeller, the existence of decompression valves, and the location of spare oil
* Check if the fuel tank is full, as it should be according to the contract. It is desirable to keep the tank at least one-third full at all times
* Inform yourself about the batteries, their capacity and method of use
Safety equipment
* Check for a self-inflating life raft and its expiry date
* Make sure you have at least six signal flares
* Locate the fire extinguishers and check their expiry dates
* Make sure the number of life vests is appropriate for the number of persons on board. If these include children, you should ask for special children's life vests and light-equipped lifebuoys
* If you are chartering a sailboat, check if the deck includes lifebuoys with hooks, as a safety measure in adverse weather
* Check if the boat includes a special chair or belt for mast work
Instruments
* Turn all navigational devices on to check their proper functioning, paying special attention to the compass, radar, GPS, plotter and the VHF radio transmitter
* Check the operation of pilot lights - the red, the green, and the white
* Check the fuses and make sure each one is labeled
* Check for a cigarette lighter outlet, which is also used to recharge mobile phones, and as a power source for other such devices
* Check for a full set of nautical maps and drawing equipment (ruler, calliper, pencil and eraser)
* If you have a separate radio device on board, check that as well
* Make sure you know which radio stations transmit the nautical weather forecast and at what times they are broadcast
The vessel's interior
* Check for any visible damage to the furniture or equipment in the ship's interior
* Check the water tank and its refilling procedure
* Check the gas cooker and its operation, as well as the gas tank
* Check the refrigerator
* Check the restrooms
* Check the sleeping cabins and make sure there is plenty of bedding for everyone on board
* Check to make sure there is enough kitchenware, and that you have a bottle and can opener
* Test the interior lighting
* Check the windows and sunroofs, checking especially their opening and closing procedure and the seals themselves. Check the opening and closing of all doors and cabinets, to avoid banging and damage during sailing and in adverse weather.
What equipment is the boat required to have?
Navigational devices
* navigational maps
* pilot reference books
* lighthouse information
* travel guides and other information sources about your destinations
* GPS, ideally with its own plotter
Boat equipment
* main and auxiliary anchor, with an approx. 150-foot-long anchor chain or rope
* three mooring ropes
* manual tiller in case the boat is equipped with a steering gear
* bollards
* oars
* grapple
* glow-in-the-dark compass
* functioning lights
* flashlight
* siren
* VHF radio transmitter
Safety equipment
* safety vests (the number depends on the vessel's capacity)
* children's safety vests
* lifebuoy with lighting device and 75-foot rope
* signal flares (minimum of six red flares)
* radar reflector
* bilge pump
* fire extinguisher
* safety raft
First aid
The legal obligation for all vessels longer than 15 feet is to have the following first aid kit on board:
* bandages
* sterile compresses and gauze
* cotton swabs
* adhesive bandages
* safety pins
* triangular wrap
* disinfectant
* ammonia, for stingray or venomous fish bites
* local anesthetic spray
* burn ointment
* aspirin
* stomach medicine
Not having a first aid kit, or its deficient contents, put you at risk of being fined.
Tools and spare parts
The tools should all be located in one place and ideally contain:
* combination pliers
* wrench set
* sail reparation tools
* silicone
* insulating tape
Spare parts:
* impeller
* oil and fuel filters
* alternator belt
* spare spark plugs for outboard motor
* motor oil
* fuses
* power adapters
* plugs and sockets
Lastly, we wish to point out the usefulness of the following:
* waste oil container
* wire cutters (in case mast cables need to be cut)
* hatchet and navy knife
What should I bear in mind when out at sea?
* check oil levels in your engine on a daily basis, especially if you use the sails and the engine simultaneously. This kind of usage is more oil-consuming because the engine is trimmed (at an angle.) It is advisable to refrain from using the engine if the overall trim of the boat is over twenty degrees.
* keep the fuel tank at least one-third full at all times.
* after the engine's ignition, check its cooling system by making sure water is coming through the exhaust.
* when moored, pay special attention to ropes. A brief lapse of attention can entangle a rope in the propeller, which can take hours to undo. If this happens while the motor is running at speed, the engine can sustain serious damage.
* be considerate with electricity. On the open seas, use the only the service battery to power the lights and the fridge, avoid excessive lighting, and try to use the most power-consuming appliances only when the engine is running. If the battery is emptied, the engine will not start!
* use drinking water sparingly and substitute seawater whenever possible.
* always pay attention to sea depth, so as not to damage the boat's keel. Running aground or hitting the bottom are by no means excuses for the vessel being damaged.
* trim the sails as soon as you feel the need for it - it quickly becomes too late.
* agree on a set of house rules before the voyage begins. They should be adhered to by everyone on board without exception.
* remember to close all doors and cabinets behind you.
* before setting sail, make sure all windows and hatch covers are shut. The same applies to restroom valves.
* ever use the restroom when inside a harbor or marina. This is illegal and the fines for it are high. When moored in a cove, make sure there is no one near you before using the restroom.
* pay attention to housekeeping when on board. Everyone should take care of their own area, and the common areas should be everyone's concern. Any item, when it is no longer used, should be returned to its proper location. A boat simply cannot function without maintaining order. The boat will take good care of you if you take good care of it.
What is expected of me when the boat is returned?
Just as in the very beginning, together with an Adriatic.hr representative, all will be looked over once more. As soon as it can be ascertained that the vessel is in the same condition in which it was delivered to you, you can bid a gentle farewell to the Adriatic, in the hope that the following summer is not too far away.
What legal regulations should one pay special attention to?
Restrooms
Using restrooms in marinas and harbors is forbidden, and fines are high. While moored, use the restrooms provided by the marina or a nearby hospitality facility. If you are in a cove, use the restroom discreetly, having first checked for the presence of any swimmers near you.
Garbage
Never discard any unnecessary items into the sea, nor leave them on the beaches and in coves where you moor, as there is no removal service. Make sure to use the garbage disposal facilities in the marinas and and harbors where you moor.
Open fire
If you decide to make a fire either for barbecuing or simply for pleasure, do it near the waterline, and never in a pinewood grove or near any greenery. Apply extreme care, and never leave the fire unattended even for brief periods as long as there are glowing embers. Having your boat's fire extinguisher handy is advisable, or at the very least a bucket of water or some impromptu tool which can be used in an emergency.
Signal flares
Use signal flares with utmost responsibility and care, as experience has shown they can cause fires when used inconsiderately.
Protected species
Several plant and animal species of the Adriatic region are facing total extinction. Your overall responsible behavior should include care for the preservation of wildlife. The following should therefore be avoided: polluting the sea, excessive fishing, the spurious killing of animals or plucking of marine vegetation...
Environmental disasters
If you notice any signs of serious environmental damage during your cruise (oil spills, fish kill, fires...) or contribute to any such event, be certain to inform the nearest port authority or rescue service as soon as possible.
