Have you ever found yourself in a middle of the situation where you thought: if someone told me I would ever do this I would never believe it.
Moments like these may be strange in the first place, but often they are followed by a rush of happiness because we have done something new, positive that has enriched our experience. These moments are likely to happen on travel.
Going to a remote place where other cultures and ways of life prevail, provides a better opportunity for escape from everyday actions, including taking care of family, dedication to work, and other miscellaneous duties, precisely because we are in a place where nobody knows us and thus the burden is much less, and opportunities to do something unusual, fun and quite new become bigger.
Just look at social networks and other media these days. They are full of positive stories about how many people have decided to finally resist their fears so they went on sky diving, bungee jumping, or they have decided to convert their prejudices into knowledge by trying to understand better a different culture.
Travelling can provide us with experience that we can not see or feel in classic educational institutions. It does not mean that educational institutions are not relevant, on contrary, travel in relation to classic education helps us discover the abilities or new knowledge we did not know we actually own.
It is a great opportunity to apply another or learn an extra language, to deal with unpleasant situations (such as losing your stuff or theft, lack of knowledge, etc.) learning about better time management, money saving, and planning.
Increased awareness of searching for new cultures and the unusual activities are on the rise which confirmes the research of leading world travel agencies. As the reasons for traveling, apart from relaxing, the most commonly mentioned reasons are the goals from bucket lists.
Unusual travel activities
Regardless of whether you are more inclined to, active or peaceful holidays, going on a trip always involves visiting important tourist sites, historical or modern. For example, if you are traveling to Split, you will have to save some time to explore the Diocletian's Palace or the Marjan Nature Park.
Thanks to the fact that people are willing to escape the routine and the comfort zone, the travel activity plans have become much longer because, apart from the classic forms of vacations that include sightseeing, photography, swimming on the beach, etc., more travelers can be seen attending local cuisine courses, making indigenous objects, learning languages, and history.
In order to adapt to new changes, tourist destinations try to think of the more creative ways which will attract new travelers and enable them to escape from that comfort zone.
For example on the Adriatic, you can visit the abandoned factory that produced the world's first torpedo in the city of Rijeka, take part in the knight tournament Sinjska Alka, race of donkeys on Dugi Otok Sali, study dinosaur prints in Brijuni etc.
Istria offers many programs for all history lovers, and accommodation can be booked here
Underwater Time machine in Lošinj
The Adriatic Sea has long been known as one of the purest in the world which also has plenty of unique fish and plant species. In addition, since the ancient times, the Adriatic has been one of the world's most traffic areas, so that is why its bottom is covered with numerous artifacts that serve as a witness of different historical times, stories about different countries that ruled over Adriatic etc.
Numerous wrecks of world-famous ships with many objects or guns they have been transporting, always carry interesting stories and legends that cause great attention, but because of the hardly reachable area they are in, they can be seen only if you watch a documentary. Unless you decide to visit Mali Lošinj.
There is an underwater archeological park at a depth of 15m opened in 2013 where you have the opportunity to explore the historical artifacts that you can read about or watch or in the media.
Čikeš Bay near Mali Lošinj has been known for having many objects at its bottom dating from different historical periods, so this was the reason for opening a new attraction which, besides educative character, will be part of an innovative offer to tourists who want a vacation that offers something more.
The underwater park is set in 300 m2 space, with antique objects such as amphorae carrying goods, warships with 17-century cannons, gunsmiths, anchors, and many other items. It takes around 20-30 minutes for this tour.
The most significant exhibit of Lošinj underwater museum is certainly the sculpture Apoksiomen, a statue representing a Greek athlete who has supposedly just finished the competition.
The statue was accidentally found by Belgian tourist Rene Wouters. Finding this statue has attracted the general public because of bronze statues from 2-1. BC, which have been decorated by old-growth towns and their buildings are very rare.
If you don't have any experience with scuba diving, you will be taking the tour through the underwater museum with an experienced instructor whom you have to notify at least 2 days before your arrival.
The park is opened from May 1st to October 30th and if you decide to visit these attractions after the summer period you will need to send an inquiry to the Mali Lošinj diving center.
If you are on vacation in Mali Lošinj with children and would like to visit the museum you have to keep in mind that the lowest age limit for diving in the underwater park is 12 years. The upper limit is not determined but it is important that older people do not have certain health problems.a.
