Naturparker
Naturparker är stora natur- eller delvis odlade områden. På grund av sina exceptionella ekologiska egenskaper har de beviljats skyddad status, för att fortsätta att bevara sina landskap och kulturhistoriska egenskaper. De är också favoritdestinationer för fritidsintresserade och turister eftersom de erbjuder en oändlig mängd möjligheter att njuta av naturen.
Kroatien kan skryta med så många som 11 naturparker, varav 5 ligger vid Adriatiska havet eller i dess omedelbara närhet.
- Biokovo – Biokovo Nature Park covers an impressive karst mountain with diverse flora and fauna, offering beautiful viewpoints with panoramic views of the entire Makarska Riviera.
- Kopački rit – A large marshland at the confluence of the Drava and Danube rivers, known for its rich plant and animal life, particularly wetland birds, deer, and wild boars.
- Lonjsko polje – One of the largest wetlands in Europe, it deserves its place among the protected nature parks. Lonjsko polje is notable for its expansive oak forests and rich birdlife, particularly storks.
- Medvednica – The mountain massif above Zagreb is the main recreational area for its residents. It is characterized by attractive caves, deep stream valleys, and forests of great biological value, with 8 protected forest reserves within the park.
- Papuk – The largest mountain in the plains of Slavonia is protected due to its exceptional biological, geological, landscape, and cultural-historical significance. It covers almost the entire area of the Papuk mountain and the western part of Krndija mountain.
- Telašćica – A long, narrow bay near Kornati National Park, it is a popular destination for sailors due to its safe harbor, beautiful lake, and the highest cliffs in Croatia, reaching up to 180 meters.
- Velebit – Croatia's largest mountain is declared a World Biosphere Reserve due to its unique relief and plant and animal life. It is the largest protected area in Croatia, including Paklenica National Park and Northern Velebit National Park.
- Žumberak – Samobor Hills – The Žumberak–Samobor Hills Nature Park is known for its well-preserved forests, streams, waterfalls, hillside vineyards, pastures, and beloved traditional rural estates.
- Učka – Učka Mountain, thanks to its relief and proximity to the sea, has a very specific microclimate and developed lush forest vegetation.
- Vransko Lake – The largest natural lake in Croatia, located near the sea, it is abundant in both marine and freshwater fish. Its diversity is further enhanced by birds, as Vransko Lake is one of Europe's major ornithological areas.
- Lastovo Archipelago – The Lastovo Archipelago consists of 44 islands, islets, rocks, and reefs, with the largest being Lastovo and the island of Sušac, along with the island groups Lastovnjaci and Vrhovnjaci.
