Island Kaprije
Kaprije is a small island of the Šibenik archipelago, located aproximately 15 km southwest of Šibenik. The island was named after the Mediterranean capsule plant - „Capers” whose buds serve as a spice.
Interesting facts about Kaprije
There is only one settlement on the island (bearing the same name as the island itself) and it is located in the port of St. Peter, which is also the main port on the island, with a berth for ferries and berths for yachtsmen. The village of Kaprije is built in traditional Dalmatian style and is surrounded by hills, the largest of which is Velika glavica (129 m). Port Kaprije, which is located on the southwestern part of the island and is naturally sheltered from all winds, is traditionally a gathering place for yachtsmen who use it as a resting place, overnight and fun along with Dalmatian gastronomic offer of fresh fish and seafood.
On the island Kaprije cars are not allowed. The island has only one vehicle and it is intended for a local fire department. If you want to spend a few days on the island you will find accommodation in private apartments and houses. The nearest beach is in the center of town. It is a pebble beach with concrete mulches. If you want privacy you will have to print on the north side of the island to the beach Portić.
How to reach Kaprije island?
You can reach the island by ferry from Šibenik and drive in both directions twice a day. As you can not use the car at Capri, you can leave it at the parking lot near Vrsar near the ferry dock (parking is charged). You can check out the ferry time on the official website of Jadrolinija.
