Saplunara
The bay of Saplunara is a little bit different from other Adriatic beaches. It can be described as a small natural park because it contains plant species that can not be found anywhere in the world. No wonder that Salpunara is a protected area.
Peaceful oasis
The bay is located on the south-eastern side of the island of Mljet, and there are two sandy beaches, small and large Saplunara, which also received a blue flag for the purity of the sea and pristine nature.
Considering that Saplunara is a protected and remote location you will not encounter any major crowds. Due to the unique position of the bay, the sea is warmer throughout the year compared to the rest of the country making this place ideal for swimming and escape from the city crowds during the middle of the season.
How to get to the beach? If you are traveling by a car the easiest way to get to island Mljet (where Saplunara is located) is you take the ferry in Prapratno and which goes to a place called Sobra. When you arrive in Sobra you can reach Saplunara with your car (or taxi and bus ) easily.
In the cove, you will not find any restaurants or bars so you should bring your own food or refreshments.
