Beach on The Island of Hvar Awarded a Blue Flag

Island of Hvar has gained yet another important tourist recognition. Fourth time in a row, Vela beach in the town of Hvar has been awarded a Blue Flag. It is awarded every year to those beaches and marinas that meet high standards of environmental protection. On the Hvar Vela beach there has been a continuous effort in environmental protection and a constant improvement of offer for its guests. The beach is situated in a pebble cove in front of Hvar Amfora Hotel, and the part with concrete slab, Bonj, was turned into town bathing place in 20th century during 1930s. Many features of Vela beach are enjoyed not only by the Hvar guests and town residents, but also by those who book apartments or hotels in nearby Jelsa and Stari Grad. One day trip to Vela beach is easy to organize from the coastline as well as there is daily Hvar ferry connection from Split to Hvar by Jadrolinija ferry boats.
